Dear fellow Penn State alumni, It has been an honor and a privilege to run for a seat on the Penn State Board of Trustees. I cherish every moment of the last few months because it has been an uplifting experience to meet so many alumni who only want the best for Penn State. My campaign team and I had so much fun, and learned so much so quickly. I’m blessed to be surrounded by such integrity and loyalty. I want to thank my husband, my mom, my brothers, my children, and all my supporters who have become friends along…

Laurie’s letter to Penn State Greek alumni

By | News

Dear fellow Penn State Greek Alumnus, My name is Laurie Stanell and I am running for a seat on the Penn State Board of Trustees.  I am a 1980 Penn State graduate, a proud Phi Mu sister,  a Theta Delta Chi Little Sister, and a past Panhellenic Vice President. My Brother and son are Phi Sigma Kappa brothers, and my daughter is a Kappa Kappa Gamma sister. Like you, I am concerned and dismayed at the current state of Greek life at Penn State. I am worried about the future of fraternities and sororities at Penn State because I feel…

John Shaffer endorses Laurie Stanell for Board of Trustees

Elections for the Penn State Board of Trustees are right around the corner, with ballots being emailed on April 10. As someone who loves Penn State and bleeds Blue and White I know the importance of the board and their role in shaping the direction of our great University. But I’ve also become concerned about the direction the board has taken over the past few years. I know many people don’t vote, or simply pick the names that seem familiar to them. That’s why I feel it’s important to get involved in this election and throw my support behind Laurie…

Laurie’s Statement on Paterno movie

By | News

(The HBO film ‘Paterno’ will air April 7, 2018) “I watched the trailer for the HBO movie “Paterno” and it sickened me. Once again, the media and Hollywood are capitalizing on fiction and omitting inconvenient facts. Even the director admitted it’s a work of fiction. Probably like you, I’m not surprised — it started with the Penn State Board of Trustees mishandling the Sandusky scandal and snowballed. This disgrace will be a never ending story until the Pennsylvania legislature steps in and puts Representative Bernstine’s proposed bills into place. I encourage Penn Staters to send HBO some “ fan” mail…

Susan Wilson endorses Laurie Stanell For Board of Trustees

“I met Laurie Anne for the first time when she joined the effort to Honor Joe with her concept of a ‘Joe Out’ and a candlelight vigil over 5 years ago. In the years since then I have become very close to Laurie as a valued friend and a devoted member of Penn State’s Alumni Council. She is always at every event- for Alumni Council, or Trustee meetings. She attends not just her own committee meetings, but goes above and beyond to sit in on everything and participate. In the Alum we also see the student Laurie– a busy member…
